PROJECT

Block 15-1/05 Lac Da Vang (Golden Camel) development is a major offshore oil project located in the Cuu Long Basin, approximately 120km east of Vung Tau, Vietnam. Operated by Murphy Oil Corporation, the project represents the company’s first offshore development in Vietnam. The field, which is part of a multi-phase development, has an estimated ultimate recovery of 100 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe). It is expected to produce 30,000 to 40,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) at peak.

Despite the basin being known for its highly productive fractured granitic basement, operations are often hindered by severe losses caused by the presence of extensive natural fractures, which also reduce the effectiveness of hydraulic fracturing. Activities (at depths between 3,000 and 4,300 meters) take place under high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions, with temperatures reaching 120–150 °C and pressures up to 400 bar.

In addition, there is significant variability in reservoir conditions: low permeability and the limited stability of certain zones require the adoption of advanced strategies both during well completion and to ensure stable and sustainable long-term production.

ESA supplied lip seals for valves up to 16″ with designs and materials based on the operating conditions of the offshore project.

PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C), the leading offshore EPCIC service provider and a subsidiary of Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), formally commits to the signing of a turnkey EPCIC contract for its first major project with Murphy Cuu Long Bac Oil Co., Ltd. (MCB) for the development of the Lac Da Vang oil field, offshore Vietnam.
