Lower Zakum LTDP-1 EPC works for EPS-2 and PDP Project – Das Island

PROJECT

The Lower Zakum Long Term Development Phase 1 (LTDP-1) is a major ADNOC Offshore initiative, with NMDC Energy playing a key role in executing the $2.64 billion contract to boost production capacity to 520,000 barrels per day by 2027. The project involves constructing two new wellhead towers (WHT2, WHT3), a Gas Processing Facilities (GPF-II) platform, two power distribution platforms, 30 km of pipelines, and 35 km of subsea cables.

Project country

Das Island EAU

TECHNICAL ON

The offshore environment imposes stringent corrosion-resistance requirements due to the high levels of H₂S (sour gas). To address this, advanced corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) cladded piping systems are specified, along with dedicated weld overlay cladding.

The integration of new infrastructure – including Gas Processing Facilities (GPF-II) and Power Distribution Platforms (PDP) – with existing assets in the Zakum West and Central super complexes requires meticulous engineering.

The scope includes the installation of 35 kilometers of subsea composite cables (132 kV and 6.6 kV) and 30 kilometers of pipelines.

ESA

ESA was involved into this project offering energized seals in compliance with ADNOC specifications.

EPC

NMDC Energy was established by ADNOC and CCC as the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) to foster innovation in the energy sector towards sustainable growth. NMDC employs 1,500 skilled engineers and over 10,000 people.
